Why am I writing this blog?

For over three decades, I’ve helped thousands of people improve their oral health. I’ve created bright smiles, relieved pain and infection, diagnosed deadly cancer and taught patients how to care for their teeth and gums. But when I think back on my career, it’s the teaching and collaboration that has brought me the most satisfaction. Working one-on-one with students and residents, lecturing to colleagues and counseling pre-dental college students about what this career is like are some of my fondest memories and what has sparked the most joy for me over the years. My hope is that this blog will educate and empower the dental consumer so that they can feel confident and secure with the dentist in which they place their trust.

Why do you need this blog?

You need to educate yourself. You need to protect yourself. You need to arm yourself with information. Would you allow yourself to be intimate with somebody you don’t even know? I hope not! But blindly walking into a dental office and trusting a complete stranger to drill on your teeth or cut on your gums is even worse. Unfortunately, many of us do just that. Throughout my career, I’ve had family, friends and acquaintances ask me for advice and guidance as it relates to their dental and oral health. But remember – I’m not your dentist and I can’t give you advice, diagnoses or a treatment plan. Consider this blog helpful hints and education that will guide you in your search for an honest, ethical, skilled and knowledgeable dentist and explain questions you will likely have throughout your treatment.
